What we have been doing in PBL (project based learning)?
This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about cultural stories and the big question was:
What is the significance in the 21st Century of our Cultural stories?
First we brainstormed what culture is and came up with lots of ideas. Culture is the knowledge of a particular group of people, encompassing language, religion, cuisine, social habits, music and arts. Example: I am from South Korea and our most famous cultural foods are Kim-Chi and Dry seaweed.
Then we thought about our own culture and talked to our parents about our traditions and heritage. I wrote a post about my family and the things we like to do.
In Literacy we read and discussed myths and legends from around the world, then we concentrated on Maori legends. I read: Maui And The Sun, Battle of the Mountains, Maui and the Giant Fish.
I have written my own legend called: "£$^%!(&)&)@@:>{*~:{+?>in my own words.
We made a performance about the story Battle of the Mountains. Some students wrote the script, some students took on the job of making all the artwork, some worked hard on organising the music and others took on the role of bringing the story alive with dance and drama.

Reflection: Everybody liked our performance and I liked it too even if I was nervous. I also liked painting our signs and background. I was nervous because there were lots of people watching. I liked painting my signs and backgrounds because I liked being creative and using my imagination.
For our production I contributed by: listening, being quiet, singing when I'm supposed to sing and sitting still and making a sign for one of the mountains.
I think the show might impact on others by: making them happy.
