Writing Sample (The Bush)

The Bush

Me and my family, walking in the green, fresh forest. Taking photos of long palm leaves and inhaling the fresh air while the sound of waterfalls makes me close my eyes. Fog is everywhere, it feels like I’m touching a bouncy, soft cloud. Everytime I open my eyes it feels like I’m seeing the meaning of life. Nature is everywhere around me, waving tree sounds flowing into my ear, birds whistling nature’s music which is bouncing around in my head, I can’t forget about that whistle. Leaning trees making me feel scared, I keep dreaming that those leaning trees are touching my head. Everytime I look up in the sky, all I see is the colour of the ocean glistening from the sun. I stick my tongue out and I can feel the fog automatically going into my lungs, which made me feel so refreshed.

I was just walking on the rocky footpath then suddenly I tripped from a pointy rock and fell on a bush. That bush sucked me into the ground and I called help. My brother tried to pull me up and I just made it out before my head was beneath the ground. I didn’t get damp from the ground, no mud, just a speck of dirt on my hand. Now I was really scared, praying that event will never happen again then after that, I went calm. My brothers walking stick kept poking my shoes.

The rocky path has been making scrunching noises every time I walk on rolled-up dry leaves. Walking up and down on bumpy hills, which has been tiring until we finally took a brake on a wooden bench. I’m drinking a water bottle making gulping sounds because I’m so relieved. I see tourists with big grey bags and they’re getting the same feeling as me. I grabbed a long, dead stick and used it as my walking stick. I see a teacher teaching her students what type of plant they are looking at. I take another rest, swallowing water which felt like drinking from the fountain of youth.

We turn back doing the same thing. Walking back to the car, and going home. Walking for another 35 minutes all the way back, which I think is long enough to spend walking. I just close my eyes. Walking normally, remembering everything around me and I just feel relieved again.

I hear the croaking echo of a red and black frog from steps away. Now I’m thinking of the trees bowing down to me because the leaves are all pointing at me. Everywhere I go, I can literally look with my eyes closed at mini waterfalls, which made ponds and little puddles. I opened my eyes, we’re already back, it felt like a few seconds though, but that’s what I thought. We’re leaving. I don’t want to go, I think this is my place, the place where I belong. Now I can only think of going back and having the same feeling that I never had before. I’m crying on the way back. I’m forgetting all about it. Then my mind went blank. I’m back home not even remembering the paradise I had in 1 hour and 10 minutes. More like 5 days and 23.5 hours.

I’m reading a book then bam! I just remembered it. Then I laid down on my bouncy bed thinking about it, I’m yawning like every 10 seconds then eventually I got to sleep.
