This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about design and the big question was; How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?
First we learnt what STEAM stood for:
- S = Science
- T = Technology
- E = Engineering
- A = Arts
- M = Maths
Then we were given challenges. The first to make a chair using newspaper, string and straws that was able to hold a figure made out of multi-link blocks.
Then; make a table that was able to balance M&Ms for the team. We were much better at the second challenge because we kind of got some ways to stand it up.
In Literacy we learnt to write up science experiments and to write a technology report using the design process of ask, imagine, plan, create, improve and share.
Our next step was to form teams and ask ourselves the big question again:
How can we use a Steam approach to make a marketable product?
Our aim was to create enough products or experiences and sell it to raise money for charity.

My team made Christmas cards and a random adult just came to our stand and gave us 6 tomato plants, so we sold them for $2.00. This is one of our best Christmas card:

My highlight from this PBL was selling our product, buying good things, earning more money, everybody having fun and drinking lemonade!
Next time I would be the sales person. And I would like to sell food or a drink next time, because lots of people were hungry and thirsty.
nice job! Sounds interesting!
