PBL - Term 1
This term our Project Based Learning (PBL) has been about kindness and the big question was: How can we build community through our actions?
First, we explored some collaborative activities and discussed how we could include kindness and build a sense of community through our actions at camp. Next, we were organised into groups where we had to unpack the above question. In our groups we considered how we could spread community and kindness through our entire school community. We decided that we would offer something that was free and would make others happy. So we did a treasure hunt and if they found 5 kindness cards they got a lolly, and we thought that will make the little kids happy: with lollies. But because there wasn't enough lollies we asked the teachers, can we use some of the lollipops in the treat box? After that we gave out lollipops and it was a huge success.
Reflection: We created an action plan and we were planning to do a treasure hunt for the juniors and do a mini game for the seniors!
For our final product our group did a mini game for the seniors and we did a treasure hunt for the juniors. I wasn't so keen on the treasure hunt and so we asked a group if you want to do the treasure hunt and the all said yes. So we did the treasure hunt.
How did our action build a sense of community in the school?
I contributed by making the kindness cards and helping the little kids.
I think the PBL might impact on others by knowing each other, teamwork and making new friends.
What I learned about working with others was faster and helpful because there are more people to share ideas. It was easy to set up the treasure hunt with more people too.
Question:
What will you do for PBL (Project Base Learning)?
You came up with a great way to get to know some of the younger children Hayun
